General Information

Financial assistance is available to York University undergraduate students from a variety of sources, such as government assistance programs, York University specific awards and awards from external organizations. York University offers undergraduate students entrance and in-course scholarships, prizes and medals in recognition of scholastic achievement. A number of additional awards and bursaries are also offered to recognize community involvement, leadership or assist students with demonstrated financial need. Awards are funded by the University or donated by corporations, associations and private individuals. There is an online searchable database that allows students to view awards, scholarships, prizes and bursaries offered at York University. The search function allows you to search by Faculty, award type, year level or by award name. It gives the description and criteria of each award as well as the application process. This online search can be found on the Student Financial Services Web site at http://sfs.yorku.ca/services/award_search/.

Future Students

New students entering York can obtain information regarding York University entrance scholarships, bursaries, and awards by visiting the Future Students Web site at http://futurestudents.yorku.ca/financialsupport/.

Graduate Students

Graduate students can obtain information regarding scholarships, bursaries, prizes, government assistance and assistantships by contacting the Faculty of Graduate Studies or visit their Web site at http://www.yorku.ca/grads/financial/index.htm.

International Students

International students in Canada are subject to the Canadian Immigration Act. Regulation 15 of this Act stipulates that students must have sufficient resources to maintain themselves and any dependants during the period of their student authorization. However, there are some scholarship and bursary funds available to international students.
