Courses from overview and Shakespeare categories will familiarize students with some of the existing J/I/S curricular expectations for teaching literary studies. Courses can be chosen in consultation with a Faculty of Education adviser if necessary.

Junior/Intermediate or Second Teaching Subject

Candidates must complete 24 credits, choosing one course each from at least three of the fields of study from the list below.

First Teaching Subject

Candidates must complete 36 credits, choosing a course from each of the fields of study listed below. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in ED/EN 3051 6.00.

  1. Overview
  2. Shakespeare
  3. Canadian Literature
  4. Post-Colonial and Gender Studies
  5. Language and Writing (e.g. a linguistics course)
