Education – Philosophy (Intermediate/Senior only)

The best preparation for teaching philosophy is a BA degree or an equivalent Honours degree in philosophy. Courses can be chosen in consultation with a Faculty of Education adviser if necessary. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in ED/PHIL 3051 6.00. All nine credit courses will be counted as six credits towards the teaching subject.

First Teaching Subject

As a first teaching subject, candidates must complete 36 credits (or equivalent) courses in philosophy. 18 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level in philosophy.

Second Teaching Subject

As a second teaching subject, candidates must complete 24 credits (or equivalent) courses in philosophy. 6 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level in philosophy.
