Honours Majors
Students must complete the requirements of the Specialized Honours BA degree or the Specialized Honours BFA degree.
Specialized Honours BFA Program (Studio)
At least 66 credits in visual arts, including:
36 credits of in practicum courses, including:
- six credits in Cluster 1* taken within the first two years of study;
- six credits in Cluster 2* taken within the first two years of study;
- at least six additional credits at 2000 level;
- at least 18 credits in total at third/fourth year;
- no more than nine credits in one media area in the first two years of study;
- no more than 15 credits in one media area in third/fourth year.
30 credits in studies courses, including:
- at least 15 credits at 1000/2000 level, including;
- FA/VISA 1000 3.00 and FA/ARTH 1130 6.00, taken in first year;
- at least 15 additional credits in total in third/fourth year
- a maximum of 18 credits may be taken in the major each year; of these, only 12 credits may be practicum.
At least 24 of the 66 credits in the major must be at 3000 or 4000 level

Cluster 1 – painting, drawing, printmaking
Cluster 2 – time-based art, photography, sculpture
Specialized Honours BA Program (Art History)
Students must complete at least 54 credits in visual arts, including:
- a minimum of 36 credits of studies courses, including:
- at least 15 credits at 1000/2000 level (including FA/ARTH 1130 6.00);
- at least nine credits at the 3000 level;
- at least 12 credits at the 4000 level;
- no more than 12 credits may be taken in practicum, including FA/VISA 1005 3.00 and FA/VISA 1006 3.00;
- a maximum of 18 credits may be taken in the major each year; of these, only six credits may be practicum;
Honours Minor (Studio)
Students must complete at least 30 credits in visual arts, including:
- 18 studio credits including six credits at the 3000 or 4000 level;
- 12 studies credits including FA/VISA 1000 3.00 and FA/ARTH 1130 6.00.
Honours Minor (Art History)
Students must complete at least 30 credits in visual arts, including:
- FA/ARTH 1130 6.00;
- six credits in art history at each of the 2000, 3000 and 4000 levels;
- six additional credits in studies courses.
BA Program*
Students must complete at least 42 credits in visual arts, including:
21 credits of in practicum courses, including:
- six credits in Cluster 1* taken within the first two years of study;
- six credits in Cluster 2* taken within the first two years of study;
- a maximum of three additional credits at the 2000 level;
- a maximum of six credits at the 3000 level;
- no more than six credits in one media area in the first two years of study;
21 credits in studies courses, including:
- a maximum of 15 within the first two years, including: FA/VISA 1000 3.00 and FA/ARTH 1130 6.00, taken in first year;
- a maximum of six credits at the 3000 level;
- no 4000 level courses may be taken as part of the BA General;
- a maximum of 15 credits may be taken in the major each year; of these, only nine credits may be practicum.
At least 18 of the 90 credits taken must be at the 3000 level (including the 12 credits in the major).
