Liberal Arts and Professional Studies – Professional Certificate in Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals

Prior to beginning this certificate, students must normally have completed:

  • a business-related undergraduate degree from a non-Canadian accredited university;
  • meet the English language requirements for entry into York University; and
  • have successfully completed 12U Advanced Functions or equivalent.

Graduating with a certificate: except where otherwise stated, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 4.00 is required to satisfy certificate requirements. Students must also submit application to graduate from a certificate program. Applications should be obtained from and filed with the unit administering the certificate program. Transcript notation that the requirements for a certificate have been completed will be made once the Registrar’s Office has received notice from the unit administering the program. Certificates will not be conferred until candidates have successfully completed an undergraduate degree program if they are simultaneously enrolled in a degree and a certificate program. The Faculty does not award certificates retroactively. Refer to the Academic Standards section for details of the undergraduate certificate minimum standards.

Requirements: 24 credits including:

a) Core requirements: nine credits

b) Specialization requirements: nine credits chosen from courses in AP/ADMS and/or AP/PPAS at the 3000 or 4000 level. These courses must be selected in consultation with the representative faculty champion and the IEP Office.

c) Electives: six credits chosen from any undergraduate courses from AP/ADMS and/or AP/PPAS.

Notes:

  1. The selection of courses must take into consideration the educational background of the IEPs, their work history, their statement of interests, advanced standing granted by the University and/or third party accredited bodies, certification requirements of various accrediting bodies etc.
  2. Students must satisfy the certificate residency rule.
