The best preparation for teaching social sciences - general is a BA degree or equivalent Honours degree in anthropology, humanities, philosophy, psychology, social science and/or sociology. Candidates must take full-year (or equivalent) courses spanning at least two of the following subject areas: anthropology, humanities, philosophy, psychology, social science and sociology. Courses can be chosen in consultation with a Faculty of Education adviser if necessary. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in Semester 1 and 2 ED/SOSC 4000 3.00 and ED/SOSC 4001 3.00.
First Teaching Subject
As a first teaching subject, at least six full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject selected. 18 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level.
Second Teaching Subject
As a second teaching subject, at least 18 credit courses from the teaching subject selected must be completed prior to enrolling in Semester 3 ED/SOSC 3000 3.00. 6 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level.
