The best preparation for teaching business studies is an Honours BA degree or equivalent Honours degree in administrative studies. Courses can be chosen in consultation with a Faculty of Education adviser and/or the subject course director. There is potential for conflicts or repetition in courses when choosing similar teaching subjects, such as ones that fall under the business, computer studies or economics category. Although you may select these combinations, we would like to advise you that you may have the same course director and same course outline for both teaching subject classes.
Accounting
As a first teaching subject, you must complete at least three full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area and the remaining three full-year courses may be from a related business field. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in Semester 1 and 2 ED/ACTG 4000 3.00 and ED/ACTG 4001 3.00.
As a second teaching subject, you must complete at least three full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area prior to enrolling in Semester 3 and 4 ED/ACTG 4000 3.00 and ED/ACTG 4001 3.00.
Business - General
As a first teaching subject, you must complete six full full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in Semester 1 and 2 ED/BUSI 4000 3.00 and ED/BUSI 4001 3.00.
As a second teaching subject, you must complete the three four full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area prior to enrolling in Semester 3 and 4 ED/BUSI 4000 3.00 and ED/BUSI 4001 3.00.
Entrepreneurship
As a first teaching subject, you must complete at least three full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area and the remaining three full-year courses may be from a related business field. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in Semester 1 and 2 ED/ENTR 4000 3.00 and ED/ENTR 4001 3.00.

Information and Communication Technology
As a first teaching subject, you must complete at least three full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area prior to enrolling in Semester 1 and 2 ED/ITEC 4000 3.00 and ED/ITEC 4001 3.00.
As a second teaching subject, you must complete the three full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject area prior to enrolling in in Semester 3 and 4 ED/ITEC 4000 3.00 and ED/ITEC 4001 3.00.
