Specialized Honours BA Program - Dance Studies

BFA for Concurrent Education Students Only

Note: Students planning on teaching at the Intermediate Senior Level (with dance as a teachable) are required to complete the BFA Honours in dance.

Students with a BA Honours in dance are qualified to teach at the Junior Intermediate Level.

BFA Honours Degree (Canada's National Ballet School, Teacher Training Program Option A)

Students must complete at least 69 credits in dance, including:

12 credits in Faculty/out of major (three credits must be taken in FA/MUSIC excluding FA/MUSI 1900 3.00)

Students from York University in Option A (three years at York followed by two years at Canada's National Ballet School) are eligible to receive 21 credits from NBS. Please see the Department of Dance for equivalence courses.

BFA Degree (for students Canada's National Ballet School, Teacher Training Option B)

Students must complete at least 39 credits in dance, including:

12 credits in Faculty/out of major (3 credits must be taken in FA/MUSIC excluding FA/MUSI 1900 3.00)

Students from Canada's National Ballet School in Option B (3 years at NBS followed by 2 years at York) are eligible to receive 51 transfer credits from NBS. Please see the Department of Dance for equivalence courses.

BFA Degree (for The School of Toronto Dance Theatre graduates)

Students must complete at least 24 credits in dance, including:

Students from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre who have completed the full three-year program in STDT are eligible to receive 60 transfer credits. Please see the Department of Dance for equivalence courses.

Honours Minor

Students must complete at least 30 credits in dance, including:
