Health and Society
Note: For purposes of meeting program requirements,
all foundations courses will count as six credits towards the major
or minor.
Honours BA Program
Students will take at least 42 credits in health
and society including the following:
- AS/SOSC 2110 6.0;
- AS/SOSC 2150 9.0;
- AS/SOSC 3993 3.0;
- 15 additional credits at the 3000 level chosen
from the health and society list of program courses, including
at least six credits from the Division of Social Science;
- AS/SOSC 4140 6.0;
- six additional social science credits at
the 4000 level chosen from the health and society list of program
courses.
Honours Double Major BA Program
The Honours BA program described above may be
pursued jointly with any other Honours bachelor's degree program
in the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, or
with a major in earth and atmospheric science or physics and astronomy
in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science.
Honours Double Major Interdisciplinary BA Programs
The Honours BA Program described above may be
linked with any Honours Double Major Interdisciplinary BA program
in the Faculty of Arts.
Students must take at least 42 credits in health
and society and at least 36 credits in the interdisciplinary program.
Courses taken to meet health and society requirements cannot also
be used to meet the requirements of the interdisciplinary program.
Students in these interdisciplinary programs must take a total
of at least 18 credits at the 4000 level including at least 12
credits in health and society and six credits in the interdisciplinary

Honours Major/Minor BA Program
The Honours BA program described above may be
pursued jointly with any Honours Minor bachelor's degree program
in the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, or
with a minor in biology, chemistry, or physics and astronomy in
the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science.
Honours Minor BA Program
The Honours Minor must be pursued jointly with
an Honours Major/Minor BA program in the Faculty of Arts.
The Honours Minor in health and society comprises
at least 30 credits including the following:
- AS/SOSC 2110 6.0;
- AS/SOSC 2150 9.0;
- AS/SOSC 3993 3.0;
- six social science credits at the 4000 level
chosen from the health and society list of program courses.
Note: Faculty of Arts legislation requires that,
in order to obtain an Honours BA (120 credits), students must take
a total of at least 18 credits at the 4000 level, including at
least 12 credits at the 4000 level in each Honours major or Specialized
Honours major.
BA Program
Students will take at least 30 credits in health
and society including the following:
- AS/SOSC 2110 6.0;
- AS/SOSC 2150 9.0;
- AS/SOSC 3993 3.0;
- 15 additional credits at the 3000 level chosen
from the health and society list of program courses, including
at least six credits from the Division of Social Science.
