The best preparation for teaching social sciences - general is a BA degree or equivalent Honours degree in anthropology, humanities, philosophy, psychology, social science and sociology. Candidates can take courses in at least three full-year (or equivalent) courses spanning two of the following subject areas: anthropology, humanities, philosophy, psychology, social science and sociology. Courses can be chosen in consultation with a Faculty of Education adviser if necessary. 24 credits in the teaching subject area must be completed prior to enrolling in ED/SOSC 3051 6.00. All nine credit courses will be counted as six credits towards the teaching subject.
First Teaching Subject
As a first teaching subject, at least six full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject selected. 18 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level.
Second Teaching Subject
As a second teaching subject, at least four full-year (or equivalent) courses from the teaching subject selected. 6 credits must be completed at the 3000- or 4000-year level.
