Certificate of Proficiency in Chinese Language - Arts


Note: With the establishment of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies on July 1, 2009, degrees and programs in the Faculty of Arts will be moved to the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies as of the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Session. Grandparenting provisions have been developed for students continuing in degrees and programs currently offered in the Faculty of Arts. York University students may earn a Certificate of Proficiency in Chinese Language concurrent with fulfillment of the requirements for a bachelor's degree. This certificate is also open to students who already hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, and who are admissible according to Faculty and University policies. This certificate is not, however, open to students who are pursuing or who already hold a degree in Chinese.

To apply for the certificate, students must have successfully completed at least 12 credits in Chinese language in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics as follows:

Note: Students who are exempted from an intermediate level language course must take another course taught in Chinese.
