International Students and the University Health
Insurance Plan (UHIP)
International
students in Ontario are not covered by the government's health care
plan. They must join the mandatory insurance plan, arranged by the
Ontario Universities, called the University Health Insurance Plan
(UHIP). It provides international students and their eligible family
members with comprehensive protection. The cost depends on the number
of individuals covered - a single person, two persons, or three
or more persons. Students must enrol annually. The premium is in
addition to academic fees and is charged to the student's account.
To enrol, you must complete a registration form at 108 Vanier College.
For
further information, consult York International, 108 Vanier College,
416-736-5177 or uhip@yorku.ca.
Please
note UHIP is compulsory for all international students in Ontario.
