Theatre

BA Major - 42 Credits in Theatre:

  • FA/THEA 1010 3.0 Introduction to Acting I;
  • FA/THEA 1100 3.0 Stagecraft I;
  • FA/THEA 1200 6.0 Theatre Survey I;
  • FA/THEA 2200 6.0 Theatre Survey II;
  • FA/THEA 3200 6.0 Theatre Survey III;
  • 18 additional credits in Theatre, including at least 6 at the 3000-4000 level.

Honours Majors

Students must complete the requirements of the BA Honours degree or the BFA Honours degree. Students enrolled in the Theatre program prior to 1998-1999 should refer to previous Calendars for a description of program requirements. The following courses are required of all Theatre majors:

  • FA/THEA 1010 3.0
  • FA/THEA 1100 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 1200 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 2200 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 3200 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 2150 3.0 or FA/THEA 4150 3.0.

BA Honours Major (Theatre Studies) - 48 Credits:

  • the core courses listed above;

  • 21 further credits including FA/THEA 2210 3.0.

At least 24 of the 51 credits in Theatre must be at the 3000 or 4000 level, including at least 12 credits from non-studio offerings.

Note: It may be possible, with certain restrictions, to complete a BFA in Theatre Studies. Please consult the Theatre Department handbook for details.

BFA Honours Major (Directing) - 60 Credits:

  • the core courses listed above;
  • FA/THEA 2050 3.0, FA/THEA 2060 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 2410 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 3100 3.0, FA/THEA 3480 3.0, FA/THEA 3481 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 4100 3.0, FA/THEA 4480 6.0;
  • 3 further credits.

The Directing Option is restricted to students in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

BFA Honours Major (Production) - 60 Credits:

  • the core courses listed above;
  • FA/THEA 2100 3.0, FA/THEA 2110 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 2410 6.0;
  • 18 further credits including FA/THEA 3100 3.0 or FA/THEA 3101 6.0.

At least 24 of the 60 credits in Theatre must be at the 3000 or 4000 level, including at least 12 credits from the production/design area.

BFA Honours Major (Acting) - 81 Credits:

  • the core courses listed above;
  • FA/THEA 2010 3.0, FA/THEA 2011 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 2020 3.0, FA/THEA 2021 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 2030 3.0, FA/THEA 2031 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 3010 3.0, FA/THEA 3011 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 3020 3.0, FA/THEA 3021 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 3030 3.0, FA/THEA 3031 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 4010 3.0, FA/THEA 4011 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 4020 3.0, FA/THEA 4021 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 4030 3.0, FA/THEA 4031 3.0.

The Acting stream is restricted to students in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Honours Minor (Production) - 30 Credits:

  • FA/THEA 1200 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 2100 3.0;
  • FA/THEA 2110 6.0;
  • FA/THEA 3100 3.0;
  • 12 further credits from the production/design area of the department, including at least 3 credits at the 3000 or 4000 level.

Honours Minor (Theatre Studies) - 30 Credits:
