Film & Video

BA Major - 36 Credits in Film & Video:

  • FA/FILM 1010 3.0 Introduction to Filmmaking I;
  • FA/FILM 1020 3.0 Introduction to Filmmaking II;
  • FA/FILM 1400 6.0 Film Art: An Introduction;
  • FA/FILM 2400 6.0 Theories of Filmmaking;
  • FA/FILM 3410 3.0 Readings in Film/TV Theory;
  • 15 additional credits at the 3000 or 4000 level.

Honours Majors

Students must complete the requirements of either the BA Honours (History and Criticism) or the BFA Honours (Production/Screenwriting) degree.

BA Honours Major - 48 Credits:

  • FA/FILM 1010 3.0 and FA/FILM 1020 3.0; or FA/FILM 2040 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 1400 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 2400 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 3410 3.0;
  • FA/FILM 4800 3.0;
  • 18 further credits at the 3000 or 4000 level, including at least 3 credits at the 4000 level;
  • 6 further credits at any level.

BFA Honours Major - 60 Credits:

  • FA/FILM 1010 3.0 and FA/FILM 1020 3.0; or FA/FILM 2040 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 1400 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 2400 6.0;
  • 24 credits at the 3000 or 4000 level, including one of FA/FILM 4100 6.0 (formerly FA/FILM 4010 6.0 or FA/FILM 4020 6.0) or FA/FILM 4120 6.0;
  • 18 further credits at any level.

The production/screenwriting stream is restricted to students in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Honours Minor - 30 Credits:

  • FA/FILM 1400 6.0;
  • FA/FILM 2400 6.0;
  • 18 further credits in film history and criticism.
