Fine Arts Cultural Studies

The major program in Cultural Studies leads to either a BA or BA Honours degree.

BA Major - 48 Credits in Fine Arts:

  • FA/FACS 1900 6.0 Arts and Ideas
  • One from:
  • FA/FACS 2900 6.0 Arts, Societies, Histories
  • FA/FACS 2920 6.0 Special Studies in the Arts I
  • 12 FACS credits, including at least 6 at the 3000-4000 level
  • 12 Fine Arts credits, including at least 6 at the 3000-4000 level
  • 12 credits in studio/performance/practicum courses from different departments in Fine Arts and/or the Fine Arts Cultural Studies program.

BA Honours Major - 60 Credits:

  • FA/FACS 1900 6.0, FA/FACS 2900 6.0 or FA/FACS 2920 6.0;
  • 18 additional credits in FACS including at least six credits at the 3000 level and six credits at the 4000 level;
  • 12 credits in studio/performance/practicum courses from FACS and/or from at least two different Fine Arts departments;
  • 18 additional credits in Fine Arts, including at least 12 studies credits at the 3000 or 4000 level.

Note: Of the 120 credits required for the BA Honours degree in the Faculty of Fine Arts, no more than 42 credits may be taken in the same Fine Arts discipline, other than FACS.

Students enrolled in the Fine Arts Studies program (FASP) prior to 1993-1994 should refer to previous Calendars for a description of program requirements.

Honours Minor - 30 Credits:

  • FA/FACS 1900 6.0, FA/FACS 2900 6.0 or FA/FACS 2920 6.0;
  • 6 credits at the 3000 level;
  • 6 credits at the 4000 level;
  • 6 further credits in Fine Arts.
