BEd Program
Education-Related Courses
Teacher candidates in the Faculty may take 3 credits (one half-course)
outside the Faculty of Education for credit towards the BEd degree.
Note that the required Education program normally involves 30 credits
with an elective slot available only for those who take an alternate
to ED/CMYR 2500 3.0.
A course counts as an education-related course if the course contributes
to and expands understanding of diversity and difference in the
candidate's own education. It might address questions of race, class,
gender, ethnicity, sexuality and other questions of difference;
it might address specific histories, issues and topics of a specific
group of people; it might focus on a contemporary social question;
it might address questions of culture and cultural expressions such
as the visual arts, music, literature; or it might address questions
of equity and social change; or raise contemporary theoretical issues
in society. Candidates must complete an application form requesting
approval of a course as education related.
