Visiting Student

York University will consider for admission individuals who wish to take credit courses but who do not intend to complete a degree or a certificate. Visiting students are individuals who already hold an undergraduate degree, or are currently attending another recognized university and wish to take York courses on a Letter of Permission issued by their home institution. International students are welcome to apply as visiting students to the "Canadian Year Abroad" program. For further information on this program, please contact the Office of International Student Recruitment and Admissions.

Provisional Student

In very exceptional circumstances, the University will admit an individual on a provisional basis, for a period not exceeding one academic year (normally in anticipation of admission as a degree candidate). Such provisional status is granted at the discretion of the University and on the basis of the bona fide presentation of sufficient grounds to sustain a reasonable presumption of an applicant's ability to complete the requirements for a degree or certificate.
